Lunch served at the sandbar

All of the guests enjoyed a BBQ lunch at the sandbar yesterday after snorkeling and diving in the morning. The sandbar is minutes for the resort where the sea is 3 ft deep and its bottom is covered in sand. The BBQ is set up in the water and you can sit down at the table or enjoy lunch floating in the water!
While snorkeling, Jairo found some lobster to show the guests before releasing the lobster back to their caves.
Two guests arrived just in time for lunch after touring Altun Ha with their private guide. Altun Ha is located near Belize City and is offered as a half day tour for guests to be able to experience the history of Belize.
That evening the fire was lit on the beach and guests were served lobster, fresh fish and grilled vegetables with lime juice and margaritas - Belize style!

Beach Wedding

June 20th marked a special day at the resort when we hosted a beach wedding of two of our guests. With a palm aisle and beautifully decorated arch our guests were joined in marriage with Luis and Estilita as their witnesses.
The newly weds enjoyed a private lunch on the dock overlooking sea while their evening lobster BBQ was being prepared.

Belize Diving and Fishing

This week the guests have been enjoying the reef everyday! With two dives in morning, the divers a truly experiencing the sea life of Belize. Divers are reporting excellent visibility and Fredis and Jairo have been spotting all sorts of creatures for them to check out.
Yesterday, they headed to the Blue Hole for a 145 foot dive into one of Belize’s hottest dive sites! They weren’t disappointed spotting sharks and discovering the wonders of the Blue Hole. They loved the other two dives at Lighthouse Reef Atoll as well. It was one of the reasons that they visited Belize and are glad they took the adventure.
With the calm waters over the past few days, all of the guests took advantage of a group trip to the sandbar where the BBQ was set up for lunch in the water. Floating mattresses, drinks and good times were had by all.
Our fishing guide, Richard took out a group of anglers on the flats to search for Bonefish and Tarpon. They came back with a tan and great stories!

Island Life

It’s a beautiful day on the caye today with temperatures in the 90’s and the breeze settling down to almost nothing. The sea is flat, a perfect day for a BBQ at the sandbar, snorkeling or diving, it is bound to be perfect top or bottom.

Yesterday, the windsurfers were all out and lessons being taught. Four people, new to windsurfing, had an afternoon of learning and experiencing how to handle the windsurfers! Fun was had by all, the spectators were looking forward to a few more splashes but were disappointed as all participants picked up the skills of windsurfing quickly!

The pool is the perfect place to be today, being cooled by refreshing waters or enjoying the heat of the sun on the deck chairs.

Divers spot a shark and turtle.

With the sea as flat as glass, our guests enjoyed two morning dives from Exta Sea visiting the first dive site “Mast”. The dive site is set up for adventure with crevices that entice you to explore. The divers spotted a large Nurse Shark nestled under the coral, a massive loggerhead turtle passed slowly under the group of divers on their way back to the boat! The water was 80F.

The second site name “Heather” was not a disappointment with a barracuda looking for lunch right in front of the cameras! Jairo spotted a little eel peeking out as the divers went overhead and another small nurse shark was found in a small coral cavern.

The afternoon was spent on kayaks exploring the mangroves.

Inland Excursions

On Tuesday, our guests ventured inland to one of Belize’s historic Mayan ruins. Meeting their private guide at the marina, they traveled by land to meet their river boat on the New River. Their boat, captained by a well-versed local, not only gave them an exciting trip, but informed them of the flora and fauna along the riverbanks en route to Lamanai.
They enjoyed lunch at the ruins and returned to the island mid-afternoon.

This week, a snorkel group floated on the sea at one of the many shallow snorkeling spots along the reef. Using their fish ID cards, they told us of all the different sea life that was spotted when they returned.

The ever popular cave tubing was enjoyed by guests floating through the immense caves in darkness with only their headlamp and flow of the river to show them the way. Their private guide provided commentary about the rocks and animal life in the area.

Fredis taught a few guests the fine art of Hobie Cat sailing and they were able to take the hobies out on their own to enjoy the sea.

In the evening, guests were watching the Tarpon feed from the dock where the underwater light invite the fish to adventure in.

A couple enjoyed a romantic dinner under the stars set in the garden. Chef Anthony prepared calamari, followed by a thick creamy potato soup and spinach stuffed chicken. Creme Brulee was served for dessert for their private dining experience.

Diving with Dolphins in Belize

The morning divers returned fascinated by their morning dives where they experience diving with dolphins! Everyone at the lunch table was jealous of their morning adventure under the sea. The snorkelers were just as excited to have experienced swimming with a giant eagle ray as it silently passed them in the water!

The fishing honeymooners returned for lunch after having a great day fly fishing for bone fish. They hooked and released a few while enjoying the heat of the sun on the water.

Yesterday, the hobie cats were loaded with passengers and skipped across the water out to the sandbar. The sailors enjoyed a leisurely swim in the shallow waters before returning to relax on the sundeck of the swimming pool and their spa appointments.

Snorkeling

The weather has been hot with temperatures in the 90’s all weekend! Our guests have been enjoying the island life with snorkeling, hobie cats and venturing out on the kayaks. One couple went all the way around the island yesterday, the sea was calm and the sun was hot.

Evenings have been filled with friendly games of the classic board games, before dinner volleyball and listening to David playing guitar under the stars. A truly relaxing vacation.

Certified Divers at St. George’s Caye Resort

Congratulations to our three new divers who finished their certification yesterday with flying colors! They gave Jose credit for being a patient and understanding instructor.

Enrique entertained everyone in the lounge with card and magic tricks! He had the group entranced and mystified with his magical touch!

Dinner was on the beach under the stars with fresh lobster on the BBQ. It was a clear and wonderful night, excellent photo opportunity.

Farewells and Tubing

We said goodbye to our good friends, Rodney and Kersten today as they return to Washington to their family. This was their third trip to St. George’s Caye and we were sad to see them go.

One group took a break from diving and headed inland for a day of ziplining and cave tubing. With a little encouragement everyone enjoyed the fast paced zip lining especially getting out of the tree! They started their cave tubing by plunging into the cool waters of the river where their private tour guide waited to float into the caves. A good time had by all.

Chef Adam prepared a cheese filled appetizer with our evening drinks. For dinner a delicate chicken picatta accompanied by a beautiful pesto pasta and an unbelievable, moist carrot cake with cream cheese icing.
