The Lodge on St. George’s Caye has been a destination for divers for decades. St. George’s was originally built in the 1960’s as a dive lodge because of the island’s ideal location near the barrier reef and the mainland. About fifteen years ago the beautiful Thatch Cabanas were added so we now use the Lodge as a lounge and gathering space, and the oceanfront porch is where we serve meals. Several rooms have been converted to resort amenities like a gift shop, island spa, and our front office. Grab a drink in the Sandbar Lounge and take in the view, visit with other guests, and enjoy the complimentary wifi internet to brag to your friends!
FULL-SERVICE DIVE SHOP
On the ground floor of the Lodge you’ll find our full-service Dive Shop where we rinse and store your gear between dives – or where you can rent quality dive gear if you’re not going to bring your own. We operate our own compressors and fill our own tanks. We even offer Nitrox tanks for those avid divers who want ample bottom time during their dive vacation! Not certified for Nitrox? Get certified with us!
Resort Manager Barry is a certified Dive Master and has been with resort over 5 years (pictured: right). In fact, he met resort owner Cap’n Ron (Advance Open Water Certified) while diving off Ambergris Caye! Our amazing dive staff earns glowing reviews from guests and we know you’ll enjoy diving with them:
- Jose, certified Dive Instructor, been with the resort for 18+ years
- Fredis, certified Dive Master, been with resort for 13+ years (pictured above: left)
And we have a number of boat captains and snorkel guides who love to wow our guests like Herbert, Andy, Max, and Elvin. We can’t wait to explore the Belize Barrier Reef with you!
Of the five boats operated at St. George’s, four are in service for divers. Nitroxed is our vintage wooden dive boat – spacious and stable. Dreammaker, recently rehabbed from the ribs up, sports a fiberglass cover to provide plenty of shade and protection from the elements; this is your boat for visiting the Blue Hole, Lighthouse Reef and Turneffe Atolls in comfort. Dulce Sueños (Sweet Dreams) and LegaSea provide canvas bimini tops for excellent protection from the tropical sun.
